Pennisetum setaceum Purpureum

Plant of the week Monday 7th August

A great hardy ornamental grass with good bronze foliage throughout summer and spectacular furry flowers in late summer/autumn.

Virtually any soil - as long as not waterlogged in the winter - and once established rarely needs watering. (The way to go down in SE UK!)

Can be divided in late spring or early summer, or you can try your hand at saving the seed and sowing that. If you do the latter, then you are sure to get some variations in your new plants - maybe even a super new variety - more than likely not!
