Water Gel Crystals dramatically reduces the amount of watering required for plant containers and hanging baskets, as well as for new plants in borders and beds.
They absorb huge amounts of water when it available in the soil, then that water is available for the plant roots well after the rest of the compost has dried out.
The use of water gel crystals can greatly reduce the number of times you have to water your container grown plants - and even makes the chore of going on holiday away from your beloved plats al little easier to bear!
I have returned from a week away - when there was a sudden heat wave, and found that the post that had been prepared with the water retentive crystals fared much better than those without.
If adding to compost before potting, then make sure that the compost is watered well before potting up. this will give the gel crystals time to swell as they do once moistened. If you apply them dry, then the compost will expand, and could even be forced out of the top of the containers!
